Caulking Reviews

A 4-story townhouse needed fresh caulking around all doors and windows. Not an easy job. Tom came to look at the job within a day or two of making the request. His experience and expertise set me at ease. The work was done by Jerry. He worked hard. He was polite, efficient and the work was of very high quality. It looks fantastic. I highly recommend this company.

Tom was a pleasure to work with, he provided me with a quote on a timely manner and was in touch soon after to schedule the work.
Showed up on time! And Jerry did clean and effective replacement of the window caulking.

Tom and his team were very professional courteous. They executed all the work and cleaned up after it was completed. It has been couple months already and the job still looks great and clean. I would recommend this company to my friends and family who needs this service.

Our Method – How is Window Sealant Caulk Applied?
Technique and experience are critical to the success of any caulking job. At Prime Caulking, we have more than 16 years of experience in the industry, serving homeowners and commercial businesses throughout Greater Toronto and Hamilton. For your home or business, we’ll ensure that window sealant caulk is applied expertly so that it provides the expected benefits with durability for the years to come.
There are three key steps in the window sealant caulk process…
- Removal of the old sealant and cleaning of the surface
- Installing a polyurethane backer rod when necessary
- Applying the new silicone caulking
When broken into three steps it seems relatively straightforward, but when you dive deeper into the process it becomes more obvious why a professional silicone caulking service is necessary.
Our team is thorough to ensure that the results exceed expectations. This is something that sets us apart from other caulking and sealing companies in Southern Ontario. After removing the old window sealant caulk, we’ll inspect the window frame (or door, or wall penetration) to check that they’re clean and free of debris. If there’s debris, it could compromise the seal, so we clean and prepare the surfaces extensively, even for newly installed windows, just to be safe.
When the surfaces are prepared, we can apply a primer that helps the silicone caulk adhere. Sometimes, a polyurethane backer rod is needed. This is a tube of foam that helps to seal gaps and weatherproof the structure.
We then use a window sealant caulk tube to apply the caulk to the edges of the window frame. Even this step requires some skill. The caulking tip needs to be cut to a specific size so that the caulk can be applied smoothly and in one pass. This is more efficient but also results in a better seal with enhanced durability. We’ll work quickly and smoothly, leveraging our extensive experience, before smoothing the window sealant caulk with a special tool to ensure it’s evenly distributed. Any excess will be removed at the same time.
The window sealant caulk is allowed to dry before applying any additional coats. Window sealing is simple in concept but requires skill and attention to detail to get the best results. You can get those results when you choose Prime Caulking.
How Long Does Silicone Caulk Last?
Silicone caulking will typically last for up to ten years when painted. Weather extremes can deteriorate silicone caulk, which is why choosing the highest quality materials is important. As experts in caulking in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton areas, we will ensure that every product we use is suited to the environment, ensuring that you get the longest return on investment.
Are there Colour Options for Silicone Caulk?
Standard silicone caulking can’t be painted, but there are combination materials that are available, such as silicone latex, that can be painted to achieve the aesthetic that you’re looking for on your project. There are also other methods, such as applying silicone caulk for the initial seal and then bonding a second paintable caulk on a top layer.
The typical approach depends on what you’re looking for. Exteriors benefit from silicone caulk because it offers better resistance to the elements, including the weather extremes that Southern Ontario is known for. Silicone caulking is available in tinted versions, and we’ll provide you with colour choices during your initial consultation so that you can choose the one that best suits the aesthetic of your home or business.
